Wicehtowak Workforce Development is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of the participants in our 5th Indigenous Skills Training Program.
In partnership with BHP Jansen, we had the honour of delivering a two-week hands-on training opportunity from June 18th to 30th to ten dedicated individuals from our community. These participants showed outstanding commitment, growth, and professionalism throughout the program.
The training focused on preparing participants for life and work at the Jansen Discovery Lodge. They completed all required safety certifications and participated in job rotations across three key departments: Housekeeping, Kitchen, and Janitorial. This unique experience gave them firsthand insight into the diverse roles available on site and the expectations of working in a professional camp environment.
The feedback from BHP, ATCO, and departmental staff has been overwhelmingly positive. Our participants demonstrated a strong work ethic, adaptability, and a genuine eagerness to learn—qualities that were recognized and commended by supervisors and managers alike.
We are incredibly proud of every participant who completed the program and took meaningful steps toward their career and personal development.
If you or someone you know is interested in joining a future Indigenous Skills Training Program, please send your resume to careerservices@ggdl.ca or contact our office at (306) 949-4230.
Together, we’re building brighter futures—one skill at a time.
